I watched “The Big Chill” for the
first and I thought it was a great film. I am not sure what made it so good.
The feel of the movie is surreal that it could the story of anyone. The movie
is about the gathering of a group of college friends that had a bond that felt
more a friendship. After years of miscommunication and lifetime apart, they
gather for the burial of one of them whom committed suicide. Time has separated
them, but they do feel the bond for each other that they never let it go. They
get together in the house of the only friends that got married to one another,
Harold, played by Kevin Kline, and Sarah, played by Glenn Close.
Each one of the seven has pursed
something in their life apart. Meg a
lawyer hopes to mate one of the guys before here her biological clock runs out.
Michael a journalist hopes to get interesting story to write about from the group.
Sam a famous Hollywood actor came to escape the fake friendship and stay with
people he cares about the most. Nick is trying to get a fresh start. Karen
wants to reconnect a relationship that was supposed to have happened a long
time ago.
It seems that such movie would have
been great if they made a sequels out it. I mean the dynamic the character was
great. I would not mind seeing together again.
